Schoonzus Jarig (Sister-in-law's Birthday)

"Happy Birthday Marjan!"

Today is mijn schoonzus jarig (my sister-in-law's birthday). She came and brought slagroom taart (whipped cream cake). You'll see in the 3rd photo, Marjan with her son Deniz and also our neighbors Judith (to which Mireille is sitting) and her mother Carolina.
Lekker taart! (Delicious cake!)

I thank her for cutting my hair always and the latest curling my hair, and make my dream come true (with curl hair) hihi! I can really recommend her as a good kapster (hairstyler).

I wish you happiness always and good health. May God bless you always...

Gefeliciteerd also to Greg and Deniz!

Family Reunion at Sprookjeshof

Last July 13, we went to Sprookjeshof already and I even made blog titled dutch my life: Sprookjeshof (Fairytale Land). But today, I called my blog Family Reunion at Sprookjeshof, but here they don't really call it family reunion, infact it was just yesterday, when Marieke gave a suggestion that maybe it's nice if we go to Sprookjeshof before Mama Gea will had her operation on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Like a get-together of the whole family.

Everyone is there, Mama Gea and Papa Willem, Marieke and Michel and their son Tim. Marjan and her boyfriend Greg and Denize (Marjan's son). And of course Ron and I, Sharon, Nienke and Mireille. It's the first time that we go out, complete with all the family members... It's a busy day for us, but memorable one too for sure.

Papa Harry and Tiny's BBQ Party

Today, went to the BBQ (Barbeque) Party of Papa Harry and Tiny (my father-in-law and his girlfriend). Aside from celebrating the birthday of Papa Harry (Sept 25) and Tiny (Sept 24)... Today is the first time that their daughters and sons will be introduce to each other. So our family came there, also family of Ron's sisters Marjan and Marieke, complete with our kids. Then we met Tiny's son and daughter and her grandkids as well..
We just miss to make a photo all together, because it's a bit busy with all the kids and getting to know each other too... and eating BBQ's of course.

Fijn Weekeinde! (Fine Weekend)

Fijnen weekeinde! (Fine weekend or Happy weekend) is the usual greeting you will hear every Friday and Saturday in every shopping store here. Also when you visit family and friends too. And of course usual greeting to your colleague as well.

For us, i know for sure it's a Happy Weekend because we have Sharon and Nienke for this weekend. And their Oma Gea and Opa Willem came here too... Gezellige (pleasant) weekend for sure.

Krul haar (Curl hair)

"Kumulot na buhok ko sa kaka-aral ng dutch language" (my hair got curl because of studying dutch language) is the joke i said to my filipina classmates when they saw my new hairstyle. hehe!

It was Marjan (my sister-in-law) who curl my hair. She's really a good kapper (hairstylist). Infact she had more than 14 years experience working as hairdresser that's why even with her own hair she can really cut it just by herself...

Anyway about my new hairstyle, it's the first time for me to have a permanent curl. I always feel good with curl hair, that's why way back in Manila, i always have curly hair on special occassions of my life, like my debut (18th bday) and of course on wedding day too... and whenever i have a chance then i always tried to have a curly hair too on any special occassion in the Parish activities as well as in christmas and anniversary party also in the Office where I work before.

In other words, or to explain what i feel with my krul haar (curl hair) it feels like a Party! Yahoo!!!

Zusjes (Sisters)

Nienke and Sharon (are the two daughters of my husband before we got married).... For this weekend we will have Nienke but Sharon will not be with us (she will be with her mother's sister for this weekend).

Today, Nienke and Mireille have lots of fun playing together..... Nienke is for sure a smart and sweet girl. And she's a sweet older sister too to Mireille..... I love Nienke and Sharon like my own daughters too. I remember, I met them on the first day I met Ron... In Manila, we always say it right away if the sisters are "half-sisters", but here eversince we always say that Sharon, Nienke and Mireille are Zusjes (Sisters).

Prinsjesdag (Day of the Princes) 2008

I have a dutch lesson schedule today in the school, we have pauze (15 minutes break time). We watched a Television program that show's Prinsjesdag. I remember, in Philippines, we have also almost the same event in government and we called it SONA (State Of the Nation Address).

Prinsjesdag (in English: Day of the Princes) is the day on which the Queen addresses a joint session of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament in the Ridderzaal or Hall of Knights in The Hague. The Speech from the Throne (Dutch: Troonrede) sets out the main features of government policy for the coming parliamentary session. The occasion is prescribed by the constitution, article 65 of which states:

A statement of the policy to be pursued by the Government shall be given by or on behalf of the King before a joint session of the two Houses of the States General that shall be held every year on the third Tuesday in September or on such earlier date as may be prescribed by Act of Parliament.... Grade Card

Meet "Red" (Rosber Marie), she's the eldest daughter of my brother Jon... I just received a copy of her School's Grade Card (on it's 1st Periodic Rating) in email... Her highest rating is in Mathematics subject, my favorite subject.... I'm proud of her, Red is really a smart girl...
Congrats to Red and keep up the good work! Congrats also to Happy and Jon, i know that you're teaching her well that's why it's easy for her with her studies.

By the way, i've noticed in her Grade Card among Teacher's Remarks there is "HONEST TO HIMSELF AND TO OTHERS"... I remember the very firt time I've created my profile in MSN Messenger and Friendster profile too... in the question "Who I wan to meet?" I filled up... "SOMEONE TRUE TO HIMSELF AND TRUE TO OTHERS"... because that kind of person is then the true person you meet.....

Run Winschoten 2008

There is what they call it here "The RUN" they say Holland’s oldest (1976) ultra running 100 km race in the country. The race has being held since 1976 on the second Saturday of September.... Read more ....- www.runwinschoten.nl

Today we go out to watched the runners of Run Winschoten 2008. There are two tracks, the 100 km and the 50 km distance. It's nice to watch the runners especially those old men and women who can still run far. And nice also to the see the watchers sitting in front their houses and some cheerers too. Some kids try to offer wet sponge to the runners and there are free drinking waters too.

I said to my husband that i'm interested to join the runners.... not now, but maybe in the future... But I said also before that I want to join the table tennis club here... So i have to make a choice now on which sport to choose between running or table tennis?

Popstars

TGIF (Thank God It's Friday)... after a busy weekdays, Ron in his work and for me studying dutch lessons... This is the moment for us to sit back and relax... There's a TV show here in SBS 6, the POPSTARS, (tv show like a kind of "Pop Idol"). While watching last week (Sept 5) , i've noticed there's a Filipina contestant named Chanda, but it's sad, she doesn't make it... Still, I'm proud of her... :)

It's nice, that there's this website link SBS6 www.sbs6.nl and with the this Popstars link i can always watch the previous show with Programma gemist and I can check out one by one with those who have their auditions with Video's audities.

Mama Mary's Birthday (September 8)

I received photos from my brother (Jon). An image of Mama Mary in Parish of the Holy Family (PHF) in Manila, Philippines and the Holy Mass today. Every 8th of September is celebrated in Catholic church as Feast day as Birthday of Mama Mary... please click here for more information about Birth of Mary ...

By the way, my husband was baptized 2 years ago also in Parish of the Holy Family.. so September 8 is really memorable for us....

This morning, I almost forgot it's Mama Mary's birthday... and when I go online Jon reminded me. So I light the candles in our altar here. I offered a silent prayer and included in my prayers that my Uncle who is missing in Landslide in Philippines yesterday....

An hour after my prayer, I received a text message from my cousin Aldrin, informing me that my Uncle is safe now and not missing anymore...

We Praise and Thank God for hearing our prayers... Amen
